Dining By Design 2012 - Chicago

    Hi Friends,

I’ve been busy preparing for DIFFA’s Dining By Design event coming up November 1-3.  A big thanks to Casa Spazio showroom and CS Interiors magazine for choosing me as the designer for their table design space. For those unfamiliar with Dining By Design (DBD), every year interior designers and architects gather together each designing a 10’ x 10’ dining space for charity. It’s an opportunity for designers to dream up super creative and conceptual spaces for the industry and public’s viewing pleasure. The three day event includes a cocktail party, public viewing, table hop and taste, and gala dinner. If you’re in Chi-town and are interested in attending, you can find more information and purchase tickets to Dining By Design here

Here are some fun installations from previous years...

    Small Space, Big Design

Hi folks....I'm back in action. Sorry to be gone for sooooo long. Stepped away for a bit.
Anyhow, I'm not sure why but I'm obsessed with bathrooms. I guess because it's the smallest room in the house but has so much design potential. Here are some fun ones...varying in style but all quite unique.

    Selman Marrakech Boutique Hotel

A feast for the eyes, Selman Marrakech Hotel is a newly opened jewel-toned treasure chest "perched" at the base of the Atlas Mountains. Your sumptuous adventure begins with thoroughbred Arabian horses roaming about the property purely for your viewing pleasure. In fact, the inspiration behind Selman is derived from the beauty of the Arabian horse.

Moorish architecture, intricately-carved Moroccan columns, and high-quality detailing greet you upon arrival. Rich, velvety upholstery, opulent chandeliers, vibrant colors and lavish stones envelop you throughout your stay beginning with the lobby and continue into your guestroom. (From a designer's perspective, I must say I'm particularly fond of the colorstory - it has been cleverly chosen and brilliantly executed.)

56 guestrooms and suites offer the utmost in comfort and luxury with some of the more exclusive suites coming with a private garden, heated pool and butler.

Of course, a luxury experience is not complete without a fabulous spa to retreat to for some relaxation. With 13 treatment rooms, various heated and specialty pools, a sauna, gym, and Turkish bath, you’ll surely find something that tickles your fancy and perhaps your toes too!

With luxury abound, you can be sure you’ll escape and unwind at Selman Marrakech. If you go, let me know...I want the inside scope on this new gorgeous boutique hotel;-)

    Quietly Pretty

What a pretty juxtaposition - an all glass, minimal desk set within this beautiful, historical interior.

    Contemporary Meets Historical

This living room was designed for Casa Cor, a design event held in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil where architects, interior designers and landscape architects team up to design rooms. The 2011 event was held in a 16,000 sq ft mansion called Palacete Linneo de Paula Machado.

It was designed as an "Art Collectors" living room and as you can see for yourself it's a good mix of modern art with eclectic furniture pieces.

    Poolside

I don’t like all this talk about summer ending so I’m rebelling. Here are some delightful estate pools. They make me want to take a dip, rub my feet in the grass, sip on a cocktail and lounge poolside with a good book.
