Sleek and Chic...

This, my friends, is what we call haute design…completely sleek and chic and (somewhat) unique. It’s smooth and foxy with a bit of moxy. Oh yeah!

On a more retro note, my hubby and I will soon be cruisin’ the lake path on our longboard (him) and roller skates (her). Yes, you read that right…roller skates! Of course, I picked out the sleekest black pair I could find. We'll be kickin’ it oldschool style along the lake adorned in neon sweat bands and tube socks…boombox hoisted on shoulder with “Summertime When the Weather is Fine” blasting (ok…so the boombox idea is a bit ambitious (all hubby’s idea) but I’m lovin’ the spirit here). We’ll be hittin’ up the section where the skaters hang. Chicago…look out for us! What's on your agenda this weekend? Any roller skating or longboarding in the cards?

A Slightly Different Take...

...on a kitchen. Windsor Smith is calling it the "new living room" which all things considered is where everyone gathers at a party anyway. It would be cool if you had an open space which would allow the kitchen and living room to meld into one with sofas and seating arrangements tucked in close to the prep area and chandeliers strewn about. I'm kinda diggin' this idea. Got it all in my head...just need a client to execute this concept;-)

Summertime...When the Weather is Fine (Part I)

Dear Chicago,

You are the BEST city in summer and the WORST in winter. Why do you have to be soooo extreme, honestly? I’ve also noticed (it’s only taken me 12 years) not enough Chicagoans brag on your behalf…hmmm, am I turning into a true Chicagoan? I guess because you are not trying to be something you are not…just confident in who you are…so no need to brag, right? Well, with this latest album, I set out to change all that. I’ve come to honor you in your best light and with all your assets front and center (or a little off to the side depending on the shot).

Here’s to Chicago in the summertime…when the weather is fine! This is the first in the series capturing Chicago’s harbors filled with floating beauties (a.k.a yachts and sailboats) abound.

Royal Mansour Marrakech

Had a busy and productive Monday so...sorry for no post yesterday. Today, I’d like to present the Royal Mansour in Marrakech located within the walls of the old city. Richard Powers so stunningly captured the authenticity and integrity of its Moroccan craftsmanship, classical forms, and traditional medina architecture. The grandeur and opulence of Royal Mansour transports you to another worldly level almost as if you are living in a palace. Each guestroom comes equipped with a private terrace with plunge pool. Butlers are at your beck and call serving your every need and as one guest proclaimed, “Once inside, every detail of the architecture, design, layout, fabrics, furniture, and so on…contribute to a sensation of serenity.” She goes on to say that aside from the luxury of the hotel, it was the excellence of service that made her stay truly memorable. If you are looking to live like a king, or just pretend to be one for a day…this is the place to stay.

A Little Dip...

...in the pool never hurt anyone. Happy Friday, folks! Will definitely be spending lots of time outdoors this weekend as the weather is ABSOLUTELY gorgeous here in Chicago. Strolls along the lakeshore with my camera in tow are a must! I plan to share some photographs of our "resort city" soon so stay turned!  

Dreams of Far Off Lands

Expose them at a young age to the wonders of the world? I say most definitely! Finally, a nursery that’s original and not cliché…still playful but sophisticated! This little guy or girl has lots to stimulate his/her little mind as they dream of far off lands.

Edition Istanbul

I’m bringing you yet another fabulous hotel this week (hmmmm…my subconscious must be telling me it’s time for a vacation). We’ll be journeying to the vibrant metropolis of Istanbul, Turkey. I discovered this sexy beast while flipping through the latest Wallpaper* magazine at The Art Store. There, before my eyes, stood this incredibly glamorous lobby (see 1^st image below) of Edition Hotel Istanbul. This hotel features 77 guestrooms adorned with rosewood or soaped oak walls, the Gold Bar with a private garden terrace, and a 20,000 square foot luxurious spa. A modern monochromatic lifestyle hotel, Edition Istanbul is a joint venture between visionary hotelier Ian Schrager and hotel chain Marriott. This is the second hotel of their Edition brand with more opening across Europe.
