Flashes of Inspiration
Thu, February 9, 2012 Joseph Dirand’s work is always a showstopper. He flirts with modernism and classicism with ease, swaying back and forth to a well played beat sometimes crisp, sometimes fluid. You may remember this boutique hotel…yeah, he’s guilty of damn good design.
Yes, definitely agree projects appear as flashes of inspiration AND inspirations come as flashes, at random times of day at totally unexpected moments; it hits you vividly, jolting you from the present…that’s when innovation strikes. It’s the subconscious wildly working away in the background; an indication one’s passionate about their practice. Brilliance emerges when ordinary objects transcend into something deeper, more meaningful…it’s when I put pen to sketch paper to record and store for later when the timing is right for that perfect project and place. Just yesterday, a flash (of inspiration) came to me for the boutique hotel project…a small sketch and a pin up later…and I was on to something else.
