Boutique Hotel PUBLIC - Part II
Tue, November 15, 2011 Shall we continue our tour of PUBLIC? Picking up where we left off yesterday, now that we are through the revolving door we’ve entered the lobby in all its glory. It’s white and marvelous, very heavenly and cloud-like. The ceilings soar and columns tower high above, yet the space feels warm and inviting (quite a feat I must say given the proportions and color). The mouldings are magnificent and give the space character while the energy of people buzzing around brings excitement. Antique and smoked glass mirror enlarge the space while reflecting the movement of people.

Straight ahead you are greeted by a bellhop boy and behind him you will find a long work table, equipped with MAC computers and places to “plug-in”. This self-serve business center is stylish and functional, approachable and honest.

To the right you’ll find the reception desk. Modern and simple, sleek and beautiful. It’s tucked away in a niche…accessible to guests but at the same time de-emphasizes its acknowledgement as a hotel for the locals.
Tomorrow we will experience the Library (my favorite) and the Pump Room restaurant. Check back in (pun totally intended)!
